Anyone who has read the Song of Ice and Fire books knows exactly how these people feel. (warning: MASSIVE spoilers for anyone who has just been watching Game of Thrones on HBO. But if you're caught up on the books, check out this "It Gets Better" video.) If you haven't read the books, start reading them immediately. They are amazingly addictive and will keep you busy through New Years (each book is between 800 and 1,200 pages.)
