The Rolling Stones debut album was released today in 1964!
With the self-titled LP, The Rolling Stones became one of 1964's biggest sellers, staying at No. 1 for twelve weeks in the UK! Inthe U.S. The Stones reached No. 11 in the charts, going gold, despite the only American release that has failed to place in the top five.
Recorded over the course of five days the majority of the tracks reflect the band's love for R&B, as Mick Jagger and Keith Richards contributed only one original song to the album, "Tell Me (You're Coming Back)".
