On April 4, 2013, at 4:06 p.m., Washington County Deputy Sheriff's Deputies responded to a vehicle crash at SW 185th Avenue and SW Farmington Road.
Deputies found a 2008 BMW abandoned on the sidewalk on SW Farmington Road west of SW 185th Avenue. The car had substantial front end and passenger side damage. Deputies found that two citizens were detaining 25-year-old Bradley Gray, from Beaverton on the ground in a parking lot about 100 yards away. It was determined that Gray was the driver of the BMW.
Additional deputies found 17-year-old Janae Doby, lying on the ground close to the BMW. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses told deputies that the BMW left the roadway shortly after turning west onto SW Farmington Road. Witnesses said the BMW was "fish tailing", lost control, and struck Doby from behind as she was walking on the sidewalk. The car also caused significant damage to a power pole after striking Doby. The two men that were detaining Gray told deputies they saw him exit the BMW and run away from the crash. They said Gray offered no assistance to Doby before running away.
Sheriff's Deputies arrested Gray for DUII, Felony Hit and Run, Third Degree Assault, Reckless Endangering, and Reckless Driving. He was lodged in the Washington County Jail and held on $20,000 bail.
The Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team assisted in the investigation. Southwest 185th Avenue was partially closed until 8:00 p.m. to gather evidence, diagram the scene, and complete the investigation.
